Aston Villa will host a mouth-watering tie against Ajax at Villa Park in mid-March, as they aim to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League.

Villa topped Group E to set up a two-legged knockout affair in the competition’s Round of 16 with the Dutch giants, after they dropped out of the Europa League but overcame Bodo/Glimt in the elimination play-offs.

The four-time European Cup winners, who currently sit fifth in the Dutch Eredivisie, previously visited the West Midlands in the UEFA Cup in 2008. On that occasion goals from Martin Laursen and Gareth Barry gave the Claret and Blues a famous 2-1 victory and Villa will be aiming for similar success this time around to progress at the Amsterdam outfit’s expense.
