Preston North End will relish a first FA Cup quarter-final since 1966 this March in welcoming Aston Villa to Deepdale.

The Championship side eliminated Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers and Lancashire rivals Burnley to reach the last-eight of the prestigious cup competition for the first time in living memory for a lot of North End supporters.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have not faced the claret and blues since December 2018 and were last victorious against the seven-time winners of the tournament in a Championship encounter back in 2016.

The West Midlands outfit, who have reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League this season, will be keen to march onto Wembley as Unai Emery’s men look to lift a first domestic trophy since 1996.

Villa saw off West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Cardiff City, all at Villa Park, as they set their sights on reaching the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2014/15.
