Aston Villa face Athletic Bilbao in a pre-season friendly at Walsall’s Poundland Bescot Stadium in early August.

The La Liga club, who finished fifth in the Spanish top-flight last season, previously faced the Claret & Blues in November 1997 when goals from Ian Taylor and Dwight Yorke secured a 2-1 UEFA Cup Second Round success.

Ernesto Valverde’s Lehoiak ended a 40-year drought by winning the Copa del Rey last season and will provide stern opposition for Unai Emery’s side after their tour of the USA.
