Celtic v Rangers (Premier Sports Cup Final 2024)
Fixture Date: 15/12/24
Competition: Premier Sports Cup Final 2024/25
Record-competition winners Rangers will aim to defend their Premier Sports Cup trophy against bitter rivals Celtic this December.
In a repeat of the 2019/20 and 2022/23 finals, both of which the Hoops won, the Old Firm duo will compete once again for the prestigious silverware under the spotlight of the national stadium.
Rangers ended a 13-year drought last year by lifting their 28th trophy at the expense of Aberdeen and will be keen to get their name etched back onto the silverware after seeing off Motherwell in this year’s semi-final.
Having not won any of the last six meetings against their Glaswegian neighbours, the Ibrox side will be intent on getting a long overdue victory to tip the head-to-head record in their favour; with the current standings at 169 wins each across all competitions.
Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys, double winners last season, demolished high-flying Aberdeen 6-0 in their last-four encounter to walk a well-trodden path to Hampden Park once again. It will be the club’s seventh final in the competition in the last decade.
After an impressive start to the new season, which has seen them lead the way at the top of the Scottish Premiership and excel in the UEFA Champions League, they will be keen to add the trophy to their cabinet for a 22nd time to see out 2024 in style.
The Premier Sports Cup Final is sure to prove another blockbuster occasion at the home of Scottish football, and you can pre-order your copy of the SPFL’s official matchday programme from the event.
