Liverpool v Chelsea (Carabao Cup Final 2024)
Fixture Date: 25/02/24
Competition: Carabao Cup Final 2024
It’s déjà vu for Liverpool and Chelsea in a repeat of the 2022 Carabao Cup Final this February, but will it prove to be Jurgen Klopp’s final silverware as Liverpool manager or a first with the Blues for Mauricio Pochettino.
The Reds earned a competition record ninth title following an epic penalty shoot-out success when these two sides clashed two years ago, and neither will take a backwards step once again at this blockbuster Wembley showpiece.
After a trophyless 2022/23, Klopp’s ‘Liverpool Reloaded’ reserved their place under the Arch with a 3-2 aggregate success over Fulham, and in doing so reached a record fourteenth final in the prestigious competition.
As the red half of Merseyside descends on the capital in the hope of securing the first part of a domestic treble this season, Chelsea will be intent on revenge. The Blues have lost Carabao Cup Finals in 2022 and 2019, both on penalties, but will hope their improving form can tip the scales in their favour at the national stadium as they look to lift the silverware for a sixth time in the club’s history.
Chelsea, who convincingly eliminated Middlesbrough in the semi-finals, have previous success against Liverpool, winning the 2005 Final after extra-time at Millennium Stadium as Jose Mourinho collected his first silverware with the Stamford Bridge club. It is a trend that Pochettino will be looking to emulate, after being runner-up as Tottenham Hotspur boss in 2014/15.
The stage is set for another classic encounter, and you can reserve your copy of the EFL’s official matchday programme for this eagerly-anticipated Final.
The 116-page A4 size spine-bound commemorative publication is priced at £10, plus postage and packaging to a UK address. Overseas deliveries, which can take at least four weeks to arrive at their destination, will incur an additional P+P charge, which will be calculated based on the delivery address provided.
This must-have keepsake will be posted first class on Friday 23rd February, if ordered before the 21st, but is not expected to arrive for a pre-match delivery and should land on doorsteps in environmentally-friendly paper wrap no more than three working days after despatch.
