OLD RIVALS, NEW SILVERWARE
Old rivals Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls put hostilities and local bragging rights to one side in the inaugural Keith Howard Foundation Trophy in January.
The match at Headingley Stadium was more than just a warm-up for the Super League 2023 season, with the clash between the old foes taking on greater significance for a new initiative.
The scheme focuses on taking Rugby League to young people in West Yorkshire, together with a number of diversity, equality and sustainability messages, and is part of the ongoing philanthropic work carried out by the Keith Howard Foundation.
Dr Keith Howard OBE was a Yorkshire businessman who was extremely passionate about supporting local charities and the community where he lived and his legacy continues today. The Foundation, which was established in 2008, has granted more than £16million to local charities since its inception.
As long-standing partners of the Rhinos for more than two decades, Ignition Sports Media were keen to lend a hand to produce the latest edition of the club’s official matchday publication ‘Blue & Amber’ as the rivals went head-to-head for the new silverware.
This 16-page pre-season publication, available for just £2 from HERE, includes exclusive content with returning Rhino Jack Walker – now with the Bulls – and rising star Jarrod O’Connor, as well as further insight into the Foundation’s objectives and the long-term strategy for this annual Trophy between two of Rugby league’s most celebrated institutions.
